A little more about Josh...
I grew up in western Washington in a loving Christian home. In 1999, I graduated from Life Pacific University in San Dimas, CA, with a BA in Biblical Studies and a minor in Biblical Languages. Later I did graduate work in Biblical Studies at Trinity Western University and was also an adjunct professor at a small Bible college.
Marilyn and I met at college and have two daughters, one of whom got my ADHD and the other my dyslexia. I served as the pastor of The Gathering Christian Church from 2007-2014. Prior to that, I was an assistant pastor at His Place Community Church. After we closed our church (it's a long but scandal-free story), we sold our house, packed our daughters up in a minivan and drove around the country for eight months, visiting forty states and two Canadian provinces (and Tijuana).
Returning home, I got a job as a bartender and began writing a novel that's still stuck in my drawer but taught me how to mimic voices and tell stories. Enter 2020 and COVID-19. I found myself jobless--until an unexpected opportunity with a national ghostwriting company showed me that I’m really good at it.
Since then, I’ve ghostwritten over a dozen books (including one that's been traditionally published and another that gained representation from a major Christian literary agency) and have done extensive editorial work, content writing, and coaching. But my passion remains communicating life-changing truths in compelling and engaging ways.

It's been a long, strange road that God has lead me down--fifteen years as a pastor (I still preach occasionally and am active in a local church) and five years bartending (I still bartend once a week for fun)--but every step was necessary to bring me to this place and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve God and others in this way.
...and it’s taken another turn since I wrote those words. Despite having a great year in 2023 and a strong beginning in 2024, the bottom dropped out of my ghostwriting business, leading me to examine why I was such an obsessive writer. I realized how unhealthy writing was for my soul (feel free to reach out to me if you want to know what I mean by that) and transitioned into working as a financial advisor with Edward Jones. |
To the glory of God and the joy of the saints!
